This year was the first year I went to COMPUTEX TAIPEI with Hey Stranger Consulting – well, actually, it was my first time visiting Computex ever.
In order to be better prepared next year and maybe also help some of you, I wanted to share my learnings with you.
1. Go as early as possible 🗓️
This year, I went on the second to last day. So everything was almost over and you could feel that some of the people were a tiny bit tired already. This might be due to the many after-parties happening during the exhibition period. Going on one of the last days also means missing the chance of being invited to those kinds of parties – so trust me, going earlier is better and you will probably find me there on the first day next year! ✌️
2. Register early on ✏️
One thing I (luckily) did right! I can really recommend you register for the event early on, as asking for admittance on the day of the event means that you might have to queue for a very long time! Also, it might be quite nerve-racking if you are unsure about how and whether to get in until the very last moment. 🤯
3. Print your badge and bring enough business cards 🖨️
While I definitely brought enough business cards, I missed printing my badge and entered with the email QR code only. Well, it’s not the end of the world, but having a badge helps others to recognize your company and name right away. It might also be a good conversation starter for others when approaching you. 😉
4. Arrive early in the morning and wear comfy shoes 👟
My impression was that the later it went, the more crowded it got. If you arrive early, it’s much easier to find your way around and booth representatives usually have more time to chat. But let’s be honest, the trade show is huge, so you can expect to spend a good part of your day walking through those halls – don’t follow my bad example and wear comfy shoes. 🥲
5. Prepare yourself and set your priorities 🗒️
Are you planning to visit some clients or potential customers? It’s worth having a look at the map the day before. Arriving at the exhibition can be quite overwhelming, given that the space is immense and there are huge crowds of people. If you already have a plan, it will help you to really find what you are looking for. 🤓
Even though I definitely didn’t follow many of those tips during my first visit this year, I still learned a lot and believe that Computex is such an amazing event to meet great and interesting brands and people! 👏
I can’t wait for Computex 2025! ☺️✌️
